Recently, we had an opportunity to test several models of exercise bikes including the Stamina CPS 9190 indoor cycle, in a sporting goods store owned by one of our fans/readers. Before we start the review, we would like to thank him for supporting us!

We all agreed that this stationary cycling bike is not too fancy. Obviously the engineers priority was to make a spin-valuable bike at the lowest price possible, though a touch of attractive paint here and there wouldn't hurt.

The CPS 9190 upright spinning bike is packed on a sturdy frame that accomodates users up to 300 pounds. It is covered with a 3-year warranty (pretty poor in comparison with similar models - see the Diamondback 510ic for instance, which is backed by a 10-year warranty on frame). The frame has a pair of wheels on the front stabilazer, so you can easily move its 80 pounds around.

The Stamina CPS 9190 indoor cycle trainer features a 22 pounds cast flywheel. It's not the best flywheel in the class, but will do the job just fine. This stationary bike is chain driven, which means you will hear it when cycling. It is not a big deal, it sounds just like a real bike.

Riding the bike feels similar to the real outdoor bike. The pedals are the same as found in pro bicycles - the foot pegs have one side with a toe strap. The solid construction and stable frame allow a hard stending pedal like you are riding uphill. A bottle holder is placed right where it should be.

Everything on this bike is simple. The resistance is adjustable via tension knob. To increase/decrease a resistance level just turn the tension knob clockwise or counterclockwise. It pushes a brake pad against the flywheel and thus regulates the resistance level. The tension knob is the Emergency Brake, too. The wheel can be stopped immediately by pushing on the knob.

Drawbacks: long-term riding comfort.

Conclusion: The Stamina CBS 9190 offers extraordinary quality for the price. It will do the job just fine.
