Stamina Products Inc. produces a wide range of recumbent bikes, from cheap to not so expensive. We would say the quality is accordingly. With the average sale price of $199, the Stamina Magnetic 1350 bike belongs to the group of the cheapest recumbent bikes on the fitness market.
I had a chance to test this model. Below is my opinion and my unbiased review (I personally don't like mass produced exercise machines made for impulse buying). This report comes from three separated tests made by me and two friends of mine.
Stamina Magnetic 1350 Recumbent Bike Review
The 1350 bike was providing a smooth and quiet ride. Surrpriselly, there were no squeaking sounds. The cycle is equipped with a magnetic brake system. It is not a high-end solution, but it works great for an avarage user (2-3 times a week for about 20-30 minutes). The resistance is adjustable through the knob which is placed in front of you. It is attached to the magnetic brake via tension cable (routed through the frame tube). The resistance level is very simple to adjust. To increase or decrease the intensity turn the knob clockwise or counterclockwise, appropriately.
The first thing that catches the eye is the bike's size. It is a small machine. The 1350 recumbent bike should not be used by persons weighing over 250 pounds. Moreover, it is not designed for tall people. There are seven adjustment holes in the rear frame that allow users to adjust the position of the seat by pushing it forward. Just missing a few more holes. The frame provides adequate stability and solidity to accept the defined weight limit.
The Stamina Magnetic 1350 Recumbent bike comes with a simple computer console. But, at least the numbers are large and easy to read while riding. Some better equipped models (by other brands) have a backlit display, but the features that come with this model is in accordance with the price. The LCD monitor tracks your time, speed, distance and calories burned.
Within this price range, you can't expect your exercise bike to be covered with a "no-risk" warranty, like Diamondback Fitness, for instance. Anyway, The Stamina 1350 WARRANTY includes:
- Frame:1 Year
- Parts:90 Days
Drawbacks: No heart rate monitor.
Conclusion: For the price below $200 you can expect nothing but the simplicity. The 1350 could be a cheaper alternative to expensive exercise bikes, but only for begginers. With its recumbent design it will not put stress on your joints. However, if you are looking for a quality indoor bike, it would be better to consider Sole or Diamondback.
